Chih-Wei Chang Filmmaker of Taiwanese and Korean Descent
Born in Taiwan, he spent the first part of his life in South Africa during the furious last gasps of apartheid, and is now based in both Seoul and Taipei. Chih-Wei has directed a number of short films that have been screened and awarded in many international film festivals. In 2020, he completed his first feature film, a Taiwan-Korea co-production entitled "JANG-GAE: THE FOREIGNER" (originally titled "LOST IN CHINATOWN"), which was awarded the Project Development Fund of Next Masters Support Program at Talents Tokyo (TOKYO FILMeX) in 2015, and the Taiwan Domestic Film Guidance Fund 2017. It made its world premiere at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival. |

Chih-Wei was awarded the AFA Scholarship Fund for Outstanding Performance at the Asian Film Academy of Busan International Film Festival 2012; He is also an alumnus of the Talent Campus Tokyo (TOKYO FILMeX) 2013, and the NAFF Fantastic Film School of Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival 2016. Additionally, Chih-Wei last produced Japanese filmmaker Shingo Ota's feature documentary "Rockin' n' Rollin' on Welfare" that premiered at the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival 2017. He is also the producer for Burmese filmmaker, Z.J Wang's debut feature "Not Burma Anymore" that premiered at the Taipei Film Festival 2016.

Chih-Wei holds a M.F.A degree in Filmmaking, and is currently enrolled in a Ph.D programme in Film Studies & Film Practice at Chung-Ang University (Korea).
